The world's largest clean energy corridor, consisting of six mega hydropower stations along China's Yangtze River, generated over 300 TWh of electricity in 2025, exceeding this annual milestone for the first time, according to China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd.

Despite facing the "strongest autumn rain" since 1961, the clean energy corridor has broken away from its traditional seasonal cycle of "pre-flood drawdown, peak-flood dispatching, and late-flood impoundment". Instead, it implemented water replenishment for supply security during the main flood season and prioritized flood control dispatching during the typical storage period.

During this period, the Three Gorges Reservoir maintained water levels at 152 meters for the first time, reserving a total 3.6 billion cubic meters of autumn floodwater and achieving a peak shaving rate as high as 40%. This played a significant role in mitigating flood and drought risks along the Yangtze River Basin.

Throughout the peak summer months, the corridor operated under long-duration and high-load conditions, generating an additional 14 TWh of electricity by saving water and storing over 34 TWh of energy, both setting new historical records. These efforts contributed significantly to ensuring a stable energy supply.

Additionally, the corridor released 25.2 billion cu.m of water to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and Han River in dry season. Notably, Three Gorges Reservoir implemented three rounds of water allocation for irrigation, with a total of about 7.2 billion cu.m, securing vital water supplies for summer grain harvests in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
