Vietnam Nov coal imports down to 3-mth low
Vietnam's coal imports (including those from foreign-invested enterprises) decreased in November, hitting a three-month low, preliminary customs data showed.
The country imported 3.82 million tonnes of coal in November, decreasing 4.75% from 4.01 million tonnes in the same month last year and 20.92% from 4.83 million tonnes a month ago, data showed.
Indonesia was the top supplier in the month, delivering 1.57 million tonnes, plunging 33.54% from a year earlier and 19.07% on the month.
Vietnam imported 1.19 million tonnes of coal from Australia, climbing 34.44% on the year but dropping 42.12% month on month.
Russia delivered 503,400 tonnes of coal to Vietnam, soaring 250% on the year yet retreating 11.98% on the month, while imports from Laos stood at 82,000 tonnes, falling 57.52% from the year before but growing 47.85% from a month earlier.
The data revealed that Vietnam's coal import value in November amounted to $378 million, descending 8.09% year on year and 23.98% month on month.
In the first eleven months this year, Vietnam's coal imports reached 59.42 million tonnes, gaining 1.96% from a year ago. Total import value came in at $6.05 billion, falling 13.98% on the year, data showed.
