Shaanxi Jan-Apr coal output rises YoY
Coal output and sales across northwestern China's Shaanxi province increased year on year in the first four months of 2026, while prices declined from the prior month at end-April.
The province produced 260.65 million tonnes of coal in Jan-Apr, up 3.7% year on year and accounting for 16.5% of China's total, data from the Shaanxi Coal Industry Association showed.
Coal sales reached 223.18 million tonnes during the period, up 2.99% year on year. Inventory stood at 2.74 million tonnes by end-April.
In April alone, 221 mines in the province produced 61.05 million tonnes of coal and sold 61.14 million tonnes.
Coal mines in Shaanxi operated by state-owned key coal enterprises -- Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group, Shaanxi Investment Group and CHN Energy Shendong Coal Group -- produced 31.25 million tonnes of raw coal, accounting for 51.2% of the province's total, and sold 30.48 million tonnes, or 49.9% of provincial sales.
Shaanxi's average comprehensive coal price stood at 576 yuan/t at end-April, down 34.2 yuan/t or 5.57% from end-March, but up 71.5 yuan/t or 14.06% year on year.
