Indonesia Oct coal exports up 1.95% on mth, Kpler
Indonesia's seaborne coal exports rebounded to the second-highest level this year in October, showed vessel tracking data from Kpler.
The country exported 45.41 million tonnes of coal in the month, declining 6.02% from a year ago but rising 1.95% from a month earlier, according to Kpler.
Indonesia's coal exports to Asian countries reached 43.71 million tonnes in October, sliding 9.1% from the previous year but ticking up 0.03% from a month ago, accounting for 96.3% of total exports, lower than September's 98.1%.
Chinese mainland remained the top destination for Indonesian coal in the month with the shipment at 21 million tonnes, down 17.16% from a year earlier while up 14.62% on the month, data showed.
The country's coal exports to India amounted to 6.6 million tonnes in October, declining 8.37% year on year and 24.27% month on month. Exports to the Philippines dropped 22.21% from a year ago and 13.01% from the month prior to 2.67 million tonnes.
Exports to South Korea grew 21.59% from a year earlier and 2.47% from a month ago to 2.58 million tonnes. Shipments to Japan increased 16.68% on the year and 22.76% on the month to 2.32 million tonnes.
Indonesia's seaborne coal exports totaled 404 million tonnes in the first ten months this year, down 7.44% on the year, with Chinese intakes diving 15.6% to 159 million tonnes.
