China's Oct thermal coal imports slump over 10% MoM
China imported 31.14 million tonnes of thermal coal (non-coking coal) in October 2025, decreasing 11.2% month on month, according to the latest customs data.
The figure was down 14.2% year on year, marking the nineth consecutive month of yearly decrease, showed data from the General Administration of Customs.
The imports were valued at $1.94 billion, falling 29.18% from a year ago and 7.18% from the preceding month.
The average import price was calculated at $62.15/t, diving 17.48% year on year yet gaining 4.55% month on month.
Total thermal coal imports stood at 293.72 million tonnes in the first ten months, 12.64% lower than the year-ago level, with the value down 30.26% to $18.95 billion. That put the average import price at $64.52/t over January-October, a 20.17% drop year on year.
