China Coal Energy Co., Ltd., the listed arm of China National Coal Group, produced 10.97 million tonnes of commercial coal in March, down 5.7% from a year ago, said the company in a statement released on April 15.

The March output rebounded 23.1% from a month earlier, according to Sxcoal's calculation.

The company's commercial coal sales dropped 21.4% year on year to 19.46 million tonnes last month, while rising 17.9% from the previous month.

Sales of self-produced coal dropped 15.4% from a year earlier to 10.48 million tonnes in March, but up 21.2% from a month ago.

Over January-March, the company produced a total 30.17 million tonnes of commercial coal, a 9.5% drop on the year. Coal sales amounted to 56.02 million tonnes in the same period, falling 12.7% year on year. Self-produced coal sales contributed 29.7 million tonnes, 9.1% lower than the year-ago level.
