Slovenia launches call to support R&D projects in coal regions
October 6 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's Public Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (ARIS) has published a call to provide 14.42 million euro ($16.9 million) in co-financing for research and development (R&D) and demonstration-pilot projects in the Zasavje and Savinja-Saleska coal mining regions, the Slovenian government said.
The purpose of the public tender is to contribute to the economic restructuring of the two coal regions towards the transition to a low-carbon, circular and digitalised economy, Slovenia's government said in a notice on Friday.
The call targets co-financing R&D and demonstration-pilot projects by company consortia, aiming to develop new or improved products, processes, or services validated for real-world use.
The public tender allocates 4.42 million euro for the Zasavje region and 10 million euro for the Savinja-Saleska region. The public call for project selection is funded by the European Union through the Just Transition Fund.
The deadline for submitting applications is January 15, 2026.
