The Seminar on "Indonesian Economic Outlook" held at the Ritz Carlton Pacific Place on 8 January 2019 ago was a kind of "tradition" program at the beginning of the year from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs which gave an explanation of the direction of economic policy in the country. At the event the government did not submit a 2018 evaluation but instead focused on policy direction in 2019.
The event, which was opened by Deputy President of Indonesia Mr. Jusuf Kalla, also featured several panelists in session one, such as Darmin Nasution (Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs), Sri Mulyani Indrawati (Minister of Finance) , Soekarwo (East Java Governor), Rosan Perkasa Roslani (Chair of Indonesian KADIN), and Anton Gunawan (economist from Mandiri Institute). In the second session, the panelists present included Airlangga Hartarto (Minister of Industry).In his opening remarks, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia emphasized the importance of increasing Indonesia's competitiveness to be able to compete in the global economy. Meanwhile the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs said that the focus of development in 2019 is more on improving human resource capacity. For this reason, the government will intensify support for vocational development so that skilled workers can be produced to support national industrial development. Infrastructure development remains a priority that will continue in 2019. Meanwhile the finance minister also stated the government's commitment to support vocational development. Providing incentives for businesses is also an important concern in the preparation of the 2019 State Budget.
